Day 1 - Wood . . .

Yesterday started with a 'team breakfast' at Macondo's with Eki 'The Prof', Frank, Peter, Daniel, Eric and myself.

Then we turned up for worship at the grand temple of guitarra . . .  http://www.formentera-guitars.com/

Eki gave his the lecture on wood, how it grows, how its cut, how it changes in the ambient humidity and what we need to consider in selecting and crafting the wood for our guitars.

I chose Ash for the body and Maple for the neck and Eric 'dos mas'.

Interesting equipment, think I will give the Tommyknocker a miss . . .

We all built classic 2 piece bodies so after a bit of cutting and planing, we spent an hour sniffing glue while we created bodies with symmetrical wood grain . . .

We had a 'constitutional' lunch with Peter and returned 'tired and emotional' to the workshop after 3 hours. We decided to form a workers union as lunch should be 4 hours . . .

Eric's concept started to take shape . .

But mine doesn't look like much of a guitar yet . . .

Oh well. We finished at 10pm, had a light dinner and crashed out. Hasta manana and breakfast from the bakery . . .

  1. Whether a guitar or a dining table... You have to cater for ambient humidity... And mine's only got two strings
